Where the Trail Ends, Our Designs Begin
At Black Lantern, our designs begin where the trail ends — deep in the woods with a craft beer beside a campfire and under a canopy of stars. Every shirt, hoodie, and piece of drinkware we make is inspired by those quiet moments in the backcountry when time slows and the glow of a lantern reminds you what really matters.
We’re a small, hands-on studio of five artists and makers built on curiosity, craftsmanship, and a lifelong love of nature. Every design is drawn, refined, and screen-printed by hand in our workshop — no templates, no shortcuts, no stock art. Our nature-themed apparel captures the spirit of the outdoors and turns it into something you can wear, gift, and pass down.
Designed From Scratch, Made by Hand
Each design starts as a pencil sketch — sometimes drawn beside the fire, sometimes in the passenger seat of a truck heading toward the next park. From there, we refine every line until it reflects the true beauty of the wilderness: mountain silhouettes, pine tree forests, and the rhythm of rivers running through stone.
We print every piece ourselves using eco-friendly inks and premium cotton-blend fabrics that feel lived-in from the start. The result is a collection of hand-printed shirts and sustainable outdoor apparel that are rugged, timeless, and built to last far beyond the trail.
Born Around the Campfire
The heart of Black Lantern has always been adventure — the campfire conversations, the first light hitting alpine peaks, and the sound of boots crunching fresh trail. Some of our best ideas have come while camping in Rocky Mountain National Park, wandering forest roads in the Pacific Northwest, or sketching by headlamp under the open sky.
Those trips inspire the work. When we return home, the smell of campfire still on our jackets, we translate those experiences into design. Whether it’s a mountain t-shirt, a night-forest hoodie, or a national park-inspired print, every piece holds a story of the wild — of long drives, cold mornings, and the kind of peace you can only find when you’re surrounded by trees.
A Small Shop with Big Roots
We’re not a factory. We’re five people with ink-stained hands, a screen press, and a shared love for turning adventure into art. From the moment a new design idea sparks to the day it ships out in a box, we’re involved in every step. That small-batch care is what makes Black Lantern different.
Our prints are made to feel authentic — rugged, imperfect in all the right ways, and full of life. When you wear one of our shirts, you’re not just wearing outdoor clothing; you’re wearing a reminder of what’s out there waiting for you — the national parks, forests, and wild places that inspired it.
Keeping the Spirit of the Outdoors Alive
We believe good design has a purpose — to remind people to explore, protect, and respect the wild. That’s why we partner with organizations that preserve public lands and national parks, and why a portion of our sales help fund outdoor conservation efforts.
Our apparel is meant to be lived in — whether you’re on a hike, sitting on a tailgate, or back home dreaming of your next trip. It’s the kind of gear that connects you to nature even when you’re far from it. And for us, that’s the true power of nature-inspired apparel.
A Story You Can Wear
Every piece we make is a story told through ink — the outline of a ridge line, the shadow of a forest, the glow of the moon over the mountains. We design from real places, real adventures, and real nights around the fire.
We don’t chase trends. We chase trails. As long as there are peaks to climb and campfires to gather around, we’ll keep creating hand-printed, nature-themed shirts that celebrate the wild places we all love.
